He’s been in great form and I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t win the last day but things just didn’t go his way. He got a bump and grabbed the bit, and ran his race in the middle of the race. He has to switch off and drop the bit. Things have to fall his way but a lot of sprinters are like that, and you can run a race ten times and different horses will win. He’s a really good servant and loves his five furlongs. He’s sticking at it better now, and getting better with age. We’ll stick to more of the same, and hopefully the handicapper won’t kill us. I think he’s better on this surface than the grass, so he’ll have the summer off and come back here again in the winter. Ms Sheila Lavery, trainer

The Stewards requested a report from Ms. Sheila Lavery, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Danz Gift, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ms. Sheila Lavery reported that her charge got a bump early on during his last race which lit him up and he ran free which effectively ended whatever chance that he had whereas today he missed the break, settled well and came with one challenge in the closing stages. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report. N.G. McCullagh, rider of Ken's Sam's trained by Adrian Brendan Joyce, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was unable to deliver a challenge as she did not have much racing room from two and a half to one and a half furlongs from the finish.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (75 = 9st 12lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won.
