Permission was given for Albahr (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when the winner, Albahr (GB), ridden by James Doyle, interfered with Power Of Beauty (IRE), placed second, ridden by Louis Steward.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Albahr (GB)’s placing as despite receiving a couple of bumps, Steward never had to stop riding and Power Of Beauty (IRE) appeared to lose no momentum, with Albahr (GB) going away at the line and the distance between the two runners three-quarters of a length.
The interference was found to be accidental as Albahr (GB) had drifted left-handed despite the best efforts of Doyle to correct the gelding.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Sweeping (GB), placed third, became upset in the preliminaries and Neil Callan reported that I Am Magic (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed.
