Permission was given for Solid Fuel (GB) to be mounted on the chute and wear a red hood to post.
Gone In Sixty (GB), unplaced, jumped sharply right-handed at the first fence and collided with Out For The Count (IRE) in mid-air resulting in the gelding falling, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference before the second last fence involving Solid Fuel (GB), which was pulled up, ridden by Conor Ring, Scottsdale (GB), which was pulled up, ridden by Patrick Wadge, and FOX’S SOCKS (FR), which was pulled up, ridden by Conor Rabbit.
The Stewards found the interference to be accidental, accepting Ring’s explanation that he felt his mount had lost its action within close proximity of the second last fence and, conscious of the horse’s welfare, he neither wanted to jump the fence, nor pull up sharply, so his only option was to pull out to his right, thus inadvertently carrying out the two horses on his right-hand side.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line involving Howyouplaythegame (FR), placed third, ridden by Craig Nichol, Fanfan Du Seuil (FR), placed second, ridden by Charlie Hammond and the winner, Loudspeaker (GB), ridden by Sean Houlihan.
Nichol was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his horse to drift left-handed without timely correction, causing Hammond and Houlihan to be taken slightly off their intended lines.
Following the race Tom Midgley reported that Fearless Action (IRE), placed fifth, made a bad mistake at the first fence and never travelled thereafter; Kielan Woods reported that Gone In Sixty (GB), which was unplaced, jumped badly right-handed at the first fence; Conor Ring reported that Solid Fuel (GB), which was pulled up, lost its action.
The Veterinary Officer examined Solid Fuel (GB) post-race and had nothing to report.
