Permission was given for Bowland Park (GB) and Imrahor (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

The Starter reported that Jump The Gun (IRE), trained by Iain Jardine, was the subject of a third criteria failure.

Jardine was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

Upon leaving the stalls Poet's Lady (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly, shifting right-handed and bumping Twisted Reality (GB), placed seventh, which had been slowly into stride, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Entering the first bend, a free running Jump The Gun (IRE), placed sixth, shifted right-handed when being steadied after running onto the heels of Alexander James (IRE), placed second, resulting in Ffion (GB), placed third, being badly hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Approaching the 2 furlong marker, a weakening Dinoo, unplaced, had to be checked when crowded for room between Poet's Lady (GB) which was taken off its intended line by Twisted Reality (GB), placed seventh, edging left-handed and Urban Violet (GB), unplaced, which was impeded by Bake (IRE), unplaced, lugging right-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Twisted Reality (GB).

The stewards noted that just inside the 1 furlong marker, Oisin Murphy, the rider of Twisted Reality (GB), placed seventh, dropped his whip.

The performance of Bake (IRE) which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.

The representative of Martyn Meade reported that the gelding was unsuited by the Soft going on this occasion and would appreciate a quicker surface; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Bake (IRE), failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Following the race, William Buick reported that Poet's Lady (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
