Trainer Mark Fagan enjoyed the biggest success of his career as 20-1 outsider Duchess Of Foxland sprung a surprise in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran.

John Oxx's Shareen was sent off favourite for the Listed event but she was left toiling back in fifth as Duchess Of Foxland kept on gamely to hold Fourpenny Lane by half a length under Emmet McNamara.

"I have had my licence four years and have about 12 horses," said Fagan.

"Duchess Of Foxland is the star of the show and showed her class today, when we stepped her up in trip for the first time.

"I've no immediate plans but hopefully she will stay in training next year."

Connections of Separate Ways enjoyed a day to remember as they completed an unusual double in the Tote Jackpot Races 3 To 6 Handicap.

While there was nothing unusual about the David Marnane-trained runner's half-length triumph in the one-mile heat, he was scoring for the second time in two days after his owners had successfully appealed against his recent Galway disqualification.

The five-year-old was initially disqualified and placed second nearly two weeks ago, but that decision was reversed on Tuesday and the 3-1 shot struck again here.

"I'm delighted for Separate Ways' owners (Long Tipp Syndicate) as today at least they can enjoy their winner on the day," said Marnane.

"The Galway stewards had a difficult decision to make on the day but the appeal stewards made the right decision, I think.

"Separate Ways has improved a good bit and we'll aim him at the Cambridgeshire next."

Galway also did not work out well for Aladdins Cave (9-4 favourite) but he bounced back to form in the Mcenery Cup Handicap.

"We'll aim him at a premier handicap at the Curragh next before he goes back hurdling & ndash; soft ground isn't an issue with him either," said winning trainer Colm Murphy.
