Shane Foley had plenty of horse under him at the two furlong marker in the concluding Ivan Connaughton Auctioneers Handicap (div 2), as his mount Will Be King (14/1 ) tracked the leaders on the far rail. Foley bided his time, an opening came and Ger O’Leary’s new acquisition found plenty to beat New Vocation (7/2) and Conor Hogan (5/1) by two lengths and three lengths.
The 3/1 favourite Kalanoura made some late headway into fifth place. The winner won twice at Dundalk for previous handler Joseph O’Brien, and was claimed by present connections for 10,000 Euros after winning a claimer on the polytrack in March.
It was a third winner of the season for trainer Ger O’Leary, now ably assisted by former trainer Adrian Joyce, who commented: “We got him out of a claimer in Dundalk. He’d been working well and we like him. He’s improving and hopefully he’ll win a few more.
“Ger is a great boss. We’ve a great team at home and things are going well.”
