Tritonix emerged the right side of a photo finish at Bellewstown this evening when getting off the mark on the Flat in the Conachy's Dunleer Seat Maiden.
The Gavin Cromwell-trained filly had just been denied at Ballinrobe 10 days ago but the verdict went her way this time.
Rory Cleary sent the 5/1 shot into the lead two furlongs from home and she looked to have matters in control over a furlong from home.
The Nathaniel filly was hard pressed in the closing stages, however, and held on at the line to score by a short-head from Run For Mary
Tritonix was gaining her second career success having also landed a Down Royal bumper in early May.
“I thought it was Ballinrobe all over again!” said Cromwell.
“She deserved that. I nearly wasn't going to run because at the entry stage it looked a good maiden and I thought Peregrine Run might run.
“I'm delighted with that. She idled a bit but I suppose he had to go on with her.
“She could well go to Galway for something. There are a few races there for her.”
Racing journalist Dave Keena is a member of the winning Here For A Good Time Syndicate along with fellow journalist and broadcaster Denis Kirwan and he added:-
“That win is dedicated to Albert Glynn, Denis' god-father, who passed away a month ago.
“I also have to thank Ted Durcan who bought the filly for us and he highly recommended her.
“Her half-sister was also placed in a maiden recently so she's a valuable filly now.”
