The handicapper can be pleased with his work prior to the The Walls To Workstations Handicap, with less than a length covering the first five home.
The 7/2 favourite Tresorier held up towards rear early on by Gavin Ryan, came with a steady run to hit the front just inside the final furlong.
Despite drifting right in the closing stages and ending up near the far rail, the 6-year-old kept on well to hold outsiders Beckwith Place and Galtee Mist by a head and a neck.
A winner in France for Criquette Head-Maarek as a 2-year-old, Tresorier had run plenty of good races over the last couple of seasons but this was his first victory in Ireland.
Winning trainer Johnny Feane said: “He’s entered in the Sovereign Path (Premier Handicap at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend) and I said I’d run him here and hopefully he’d get enough weight to get into it and Gavin can ride him.
“It’s about time he won and he’s been a bit unlucky for us. He only won by a neck but he gave away a lot of ground drifting and we’ll try and sort that out before the next day.
“I think seven furlongs, a bend and soft ground is his gig so that race is probably made up for him. We’ll need a bit of luck and bit more rain.
“He loves Leopardstown and was only beaten a head by Sonaiyla there last year. I’ve never really had him right but have got a clear run with him now. He’ll improve again from today.”
