Sunrise Lady (11/1) put in a fine display of jumping under Barry O’Neill to take the Punchestown Ingoldsby (Q.R.) Handicap Chase.
She held a clear lead from some way out and kept on well in the staright to account for Top Question (11/1) by five and a half lengths. Makeyourcall (25/1) and the winner’s stablemate I’m Not Alone (8/1) completed the placings. The 16/5 favourite Bishops Quarter was never a factor and was pulled up.
Previously successful in a bumper and a maiden hurdle, the winning Scorpion mare had run quite well in her previous couple of chase starts and was getting off the mark over the larger obstacles at the tenth time of asking.
Winning trainer Conor O’Dwyer said: “In fairness to Ricky (Doyle) he’s been calling it for the last two weeks to find something for her as she’s in super form.
“That’s the full house now as she’s won a point-to-point, bumper, hurdle and a chase.
“We’ll keep going with her as she still has a spark. She’ll definitely be going to a stallion at some stage.
“She loves that jumping and galloping along. She’s a real favourite of the owner (Hugo Kane) as she was his first winner.”
