Brian McMahon enjoyed a Navan double courtesy of Se Mo Laoch in the three mile handicap chase.

The nine-year-old gelding was ridden in pursuit of Wishmoor as the leader bypassed the second last fence. Se Mo Laoch dug deep on the long run to the final fence where he closed right up on the leader.

The 9/1 shot stayed on stoutly to collar Wishmoor in the closing stages and win going away.

The winning margin back to the 11/1 runner-up was four lengths. There was a gap of 34 lengths to third-placed Uaintseenothingyet the 9/4 favourite, as the testing ground took its toll.

Brian McMahon said: "This is like interviewing Gordon (Elliott)! - normally if I had two or three winners in the year that would be about the height of it and to have two in a day is beyond belief.

"I was hoping he might win and go up a few pounds to get into the Kim Muir at Cheltenham and Eoin can ride him. Eoin is a massive team member, is in every day and is a slave to work. He won the five year old maiden at Nenagh (point-to-point) earlier and shot up the road to be here on time to ride Se Mo Laoch.

"Eoin's point-to-point winner was for Noel Glynn, my old landlord, so it was a good day all round and there'll probably be a big night back in Clare.

"i bought a yard at Christmas and after I moved in I found out it was in Galway - if I'd have known, I'd probably have thrown it up but it was too late at that stage!"

McMahon also saddled Seskinane (14/1) to win on the card. The double paid 149/1.
