On his second start for Johnny Murtagh, Rahmi just prevailed in the feature at the Curragh this evening, the Novibet Emerald Mile Premier Handicap.
Previously trained in France and successful at Fontainebleau in September, the Pivotal chestnut finished down the field on his Irish debut at Limerick last month. Dunum won that Greenmount Park contest, but he had to settle for second today, with just a short-head the margin of victory.
The runner-up was returned the 4/1 favourite under Wayne Lordan for Natalia Lupini, while Adelaise (25/1) finished strongly to take third, another half-a-length away.
With 20 in this valuable contest, No More Porter (8/1), one of five Adrian McGuinness-trained representatives, completed the places in fourth.
Just denied in the opening race, Danny Sheehy was aboard the four-year-old victor and he said in the aftermath: "He's been working well at home.
"We were drawn out in 16 and were a bit unsure about the ground as his form in France was on soft to heavy.
"We knew there was going to be a good gallop today and we were able to slot in. He was always comfortable and travelled well.
"I was lucky enough to be following Wayne on the eventual second and he helped to get me as far as I wanted to. In fairness he put his head down and battled well."
STEWARDS REPORTS
Following a request from broadcasters, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for a two minute delay to this race
The Raceday Stewards fined Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer €65 for failing to fit the declared hood to Adelaise, prior to entering the parade ring.
