McNamara and Moran on the mark
The Vinegar Hill Maiden Hurdle was claimed by the Michael Moran trained Page One Two Nine under a fine ride by Andrew McNamara.
McNamara who was never too far off the pace produced the 9/2 shot to lead at the last and kept on well under a strong drive by McNamara to score by three and a half lengths.
Winning trainer Moran said afterwards: “He’ll go over fences straight away now, I really wanted to win a maiden hurdle with him.”
“Michael Darcy rode him previously and said he was breathing a little hard so we put a tongue tie on him today and I think that made all the difference.”
“I’m delighted for the owners, they have been so patient with this lad and they’re lovely people to train for.”
