< New Approach took full advantage of Duke Of Marmalade's absence to land the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, but it was no walk in the park for the Epsom Derby winner.
All seemed to be going to plan when Kevin Manning sent the 8-13 favourite past Red Rock Canyon into the lead in the straight, but Jim Bolger's colt did not quicken away as expected and had to fend off several challengers.

The filly was always prominent and the writing was on the wall when she took over from Lady Gloria but there was some heavyweight talent behind her and she was made to battle hard.
Having beaten off Halfway To Heaven Lush Lashes was tackled by Nahoodh who had met trouble in running, and kept her at bay by a neck. The French Derby runner-up was brought from the rear by Pat Smullen and led into the final furlong, but The Bogberry (9-1) swooped down the outside under Colm O'Donoghue and claimed the spoils.
