The veteran Jake Peter showed that he has plenty life left in him yet when following up his recent Punchestown win in the Paddy Power "God I Miss Jackie Lennox's" Handicap Hurdle at Cork.

Trained in County Tipperary by Mark Cahill, the 10-year-old appears to be as good as ever despite his advancing years.

Always to the fore under Philip Enright, the gelding moved nicely in fourth place as the leaders entered the home straight.

Going second after three out, Jake Peter led narrowly after the next, going clear from the final flight to record a comfortable three-and-three-quarter length win over Rebel Gold

Mark Cahill said: "He is a legend, a right little horse and the one thing with him is he will give you everything every day.

"I was thinking of leaving him out after his win the last day but the oul weather has been kind to us so we chanced keeping him going and it has paid off. We'll get him home now and see what the forecast is so I wouldn't rule out running him again.

"We have a few other horses ready to run but they are waiting for soft ground."
