Influential Lady opened her account at the 23rd attempt when justifying good support in the Holden Plant Rentals Handicap Hurdle at Gowran Park.

Trained locally by Jimmy Barcoe, the seven-year-old daughter of Doyen was well-backed this morning from 20/1 and went off a 7/1 chance.

Cathal Landers’ mount made smooth headway to lead after two out and stretched clear after the last to beat Appian Way by an easy six lengths. Cast Iron was a further three quarters of a length back in third with Hopefully completing the places in fourth.

Barcoe said, “She obviously had a good run the other day and has backed it up which is brilliant. She’s a fine good-looking mare and it was a higher grade the last day.

“She had a good run on her first run for me in Navan on soft so I think she’ll handle anything. It was just a question of whether she could back it up.”
