Henry de Bromhead saddled his first ever treble at odds of over 37/1 as Sizing Granite put in a fine round of jumping to lower the colours of hot-pot Lieutenant Colonel in the Weatherbys Ireland GSB Beginners Chase at Naas.
The 6/1 chance was up with the pace throughout, and gained an edge over the 1/2 favourite as that rival made mistakes at the two fences before the straight.
However the pair were locked together again by the second last, and it was only on the run-in that Jonathan Burke’s mount proved the stronger to score by a length. Minella Foru was a further five lengths away in third.
De Bromhead was successful earlier on the card with Sizing John the first leg of a double for Burke, and the Davy Russell-ridden Moscow Mannon
De Bromhead said, "“You dream of days like this. I had a treble before between Cork and Punchestown but not on one card. I'm delighted.
“All the horses seemed in good form and we were waiting on the ground to change. We were looking forward to running them and it's great they are performing like this.
“This horse has always been very backward and green. Hurdling was just to get to chasing. He obviously had to improve a lot on hurdles ratings but hopefully fences help him to do that.
“He's still a big baby. Hopefully he comes on from that and he's an exciting horse. His jumping down the back was incredible. He's tough out and stays two miles really well.
“I thought he was a real stayer but he was disappointing over two-and-a-half at Punchestown when he stopped like he was shot.”
