Agent Boru picked a fine time to break his maiden tag when gaining his first win in the E55,000 Grade B INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse today, scoring for Fairyhouse 'specialist' Tom Gibney.
Irish Grand National winning trainer Gibney had previously enjoyed Easter success at the Meath venue with Ah Littleluck on April 2 and today trained point to point winner Agent Boru, under jockey Jonathan Moore, to a first racecourse success on his 12th outing.
A delighted Gibney later said “it's unbelievable - I wish we could run all our horses here!
“He's a good little horse this fella and I've run him in a few decent races and he wasn't a million miles away in a E100,000 race here at the beginning of the season.
“He's very quirky and twice he's been in a good position in a race but dropped himself out to an impossible position and came home like a freight train, so we've just been trying to figure him out. I think we are getting the hang of it and he was brilliant today.
“We tried these tactics the last day in Punchestown but they absolutely walked. I said to David Mullins that day 'are we getting it right or wrong' and he said you're spot on but the race didn't go to plan and to stick with it. That's what gave us the confidence to try and ride him the same today.
“He's in a 2m4f race at Punchestown and that's the one I've wanted to go for all season but I don't think he's going to get into it.”
