Fortunate Copsiano wins Clonmel opener

Thu 30th Oct 2008, 14:23

The Mouse Morris trained Copsiano under Andrew Leigh, ran out the fortunate winner of the Cashel Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel today.

The son of Flemensfirth tracked the leaders throughout before progressing to lead before two out. However, Ruby Walsh on Persian City was closing at this stage and, having matched at 1.06 in-running, was effectively brought down when Copsiano jumped to his left at the second last flight, leaving Copsiano to coast home a 13 lengths winner.

Winning trainer Mouse Morris later briefly mentioned "Copsiano should make a nice staying chaser."
