Amazon Lady was the second successful newcomer from Tipperary's opening two races today, landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for trainer Willie McCreery, owner/breeder Maurice Burns and jockey Nathan Cross.
A 33/1 chance this morning and returned 14s, Amazon Lady raced with the leaders, led a furlong out and scored by a length and a quarter from Parting Glass which raced alone on the far side rail.
McCreery reported “she is a beautiful big filly and was in with me last year but I told Maurice (Burns) to send her home and give her time. She was always sharp, is a very honest filly but was a work in progress and that's as fast as she's ever gone.
“She is a smashing looker and you won't see a better looking filly here today.
“She's relaxed enough to go six (furlongs) but we'll stick to five as she shows so much pace. We'll plot away with her and being a daisy-cutter, better ground will be no harm.
“Maurice bred her and has the stallion (Bungle Inthejungle).”
