Reports in which The Spoonplayer (IRE) was mentioned
Molony family affair at Thurles
Thurles has proven a happy hunting ground for John Cullen over the years and he rode Bohemian Lass to win the opening beginners chase at Thurles today, for his mother-in-law Riona Molony, wife of the racecourse's owner Pierce Molony. Thu 23rd OctThe Fonze Makes It Eight
The Fonze registered his eighth career success and his first over fences at his second attempt when putting the Killone Estates Chase to bed in a matter of strides before the last, going on to beat favourite, The Spoonplayer, by five and a half lengths. Sat 13th SepWalsh Doubles-Up for the Punters
The Spoonplayer, owned by the Band Syndicate, a majority of which are locals, made his third visit to Tramore's August Festival a winning one, making virtually all in the O'Neill's Bar Hurdle. Fri 15th AugSalesin Makes All
With the two market-leaders, Heavenly Blues and Silver Jaro, taken out on account of the ground, the door was left open for something else to win the Whitford House Hotel (Q.R.) Race and Padraig Roche didn't need to be asked twice as he went out and made all on Salesin. Fri 08th Aug
After race at Tramore Fri, 15th Aug, 2008 (1st)
I wasn't going to run him on Wednesday as it looked a hot race but when Jennifer Walsh rang me and said that some of those entries had dropped out and that Ruby would be available to ride, we made up our minds to run. The last time Ruby rode for me I gave him all these detailed instructions and he ended up doing his own thing and won. So this time I asked Ruby what he was going to do and he said he was going to make it and seeing as he is a two to a two and a half mile horse it was the thing to do.
