He was probably a bit unlucky the last day. Funny enough for a horse around here, he likes to be drawn wide. Being drawn one here the last day didn't suit him - the wider, the better!. Declan was very strong on him. He rode a lot of winners for me early on when I was starting off and we had a great combination. He said to me there, 'it's a pity you had a son!'

When he wants to, he knows where the winning post is!. He was good today. He's won nine now and he's a right fun horse. He's a good servant for his owners and for me too. I've won a lot of those races on him. He's back down to a winning mark. He can't compete with the heavy weight on his back, but when he's right he's good.

He had a lovely run here on his last run, running on real well when the race wasn't run to suit. We were disappointed he got balloted out of Galway last week but he made up for it today so it's lovely. Amy Jo gave him a great ride, she gets a great tune out of him, and he ran to the line really well for her. When he's at this level he's very competitive and pays his way. We'll see what the owners want to do but he might even get a break now and save him for Dundalk for the winter.

That’s his first time over a mile and the step up in trip seems to have suited him. He’s in again on Friday night (over 7f) and will probably turn up again.

I’ve had a load of horses running well in the last few weeks so it’s grand that one has put their head in front. He spread a shoe coming here and it’s all thanks to the farrier at the track, John McAteer, as a few hours ago I didn’t think he would be running. He’ll tip away here for the winter and has won five now. He’s a good little servant. I’d say he’s better over seven and I wanted to run him in the second race here but he got balloted out. This race suited him as they went hard. Jake has made a great start and is doing really well.

He's been a good servant and has won three here now in the last few months.

It was a long time coming. It's the first day he's jumped well as he's always been missing the break. Things went right today. He was always going to win one but you need luck on your side someday. I left it up to (son) Andrew how to ride him as he knows him well. It worked out and it'll keep the owners (Men Of Forty Eight Syndicate) happy.

After race at Navan Sat, 13th Jul, 2019 (1st)
He's been knocking on the door and he's been ultra consistent lately. It was great to get his head in front and it was the lads' (Men Of Forty Eight Syndicate) first winner this year. We'll go to Galway now on the Monday night for the seven-furlong three-year-old handicap. Donie O'Connell and Pat Leahy are the two main men in the syndicate. Donie has a Tipperary function there, so he was always going there anyway. It was nearly six furlongs today and that will be seven up the hill. It might be a little bit of a worry but he's going anyway as the lads have a party on.
