Steviemac added to a Punchestown win from almost a fortnight back when he justified good market-support (9/2 in the morning into 5/2) when giving amateur, Colin McNally his third winner on the racecourse to add to "seven or eight in point-points" in the Munster Handicap Hurdle.

Steviemac defied his outsider status as he landed the Pat Moore Builders Novice Handicap Hurdle by five lengths under Stephen Gray. Gerry Keane's handicap first-timer led three out and he was clear in the straight on the way to victory over Nans Best.

He's turned into a nice horse. He had plenty of weight today but did it well,. He tends to idle a bit in front. Paddy likes him a lot. He'll get an entry in what used to be the Pierse Hurdle and it depends what weight he gets. Whether he would be good enough for that I don't know. There is another race for him at Leopardstown over Christmas but he'd hardly go for the both of them. Chasing is probably his job down the road.

I'm hoping he'll be good enough to go on from here. He'll keep hurdling for this winter but he has won a point-to-point so he'll go chasing then. Colin thought that seeing as he won a point that he'd stay galloping and that's why he went from so far out. The ground is very deep though and he was game to stay going. He has a good old pedigree being a half-brother to Possible Gale and Whizbang.
