He may have been burdened with top-weight but that didn't deter supporters of Rock County (at least 7s this morning into 9/2) for the Saltan Properties Handicap Hurdle. He duly obliged by a fairly convincing three lengths. Sat 17th Apr

Kylebeg Krystle got 12Ibs for her Thurles romp on Sunday and with just a mandatory 6Ib penalty, the daughter of Oscar proved up to the task under her trainer/rider, Denis Hogan, prevailing by a length in the Thoroughbred County Handicap Hurdle. Wed 20th Jan

I'm delighted with him because he is still a big baby. He is a great character, a beautiful mover and jumper and he'll make a great chaser. We were worried about his fitness but he had plenty of hill work done which served him well up the hill here. It has worked out well anyway and he's so laid-back that it is hard to know how forward he is. He'll be better back up in trip and as I've said it is hard to know how good he is as he is so laid-back. In fact there are always fights at home about who gets to ride him!

That was a big relief, I thought the ground might have been a bit quick but they did a great job watering the ground. He'll be a much stronger horse next year and he'll make a lovely chaser. He could handle a cut in the ground also, he just doesn't go on heavy ground.

The track didn't suit him according to the jockey and he probably would need a more galloping track. We thought the ground was a bit too soft in Clonmel the last day. He has just taken a bit of time.
