After race at Thurles Sun, 20th Jan, 2019 (1st)
The horses in the last three months have had dirty noses and I haven't been to the doctor myself in 50 years, and I still didn't go, but had a bad dose since Christmas. Between the horses and myself not being well, it was hard the past couple of months but thankfully Tom and Martin (Doran) have had the confidence to wait and some of the horses are still not right. I actually had Sanibel Island backed myself and he was just getting into it nicely when he tipped up. The penny is starting to drop with him and Danny said he'd win again. It's grand for Tom Doran who has eight horses with me, including some young horses to be broken later in the summer.

After race at Ballinrobe Fri, 21st Sep, 2018 (1st)
He's (Ambrose McCurtin) earned his ride on a horse that was a bit awkward and he gave him a peach here one night,. There were no jockeys rushing to ride him - when you have a lad that's hungry and wanting to do it you let him at it. Tom (Doran, owner) wanted to claim off Dorans River at Bellewstown and I told him about Ambrose. His five pound claim is obviously a help and he's a real horseman. He's been riding most of them there. I sort of like having my own jockey. Denis (O'Regan) used to ride them for me - a world class rider - but sometimes I couldn't get him when I wanted him. Ambrose comes in and schools horses and everything is working out. Tom is happy with him. You'd win races you shouldn't be winning because of that five pound claim.
