Whyso Mayo, winner of the Foxhunters Chase at Cheltenham in 2006, again proved that age is no barrier, winning the Open Race at Bandon point to point today at the age of 15.

Ridden by Mikey O’Connor, the gelding jumped the third last fence upsides both Mayo Calling and Oscar Delta. However Mayo Calling (Declan Queally) exited at the that fence leaving both Whyso Mayo and Oscar Delta to fight out a tremendous battle from the second last fence.

At the line, Whyso Mayo, whose career began eight years ago this month, had half a length to spare, proving a popular win for his trainer Raymond Hurley.
