The well-backed Raise The Beat ran out an easy winner of the opening two-mile maiden at Dundalk this evening.

Billy Lee gave the even-money favourite (2/1 this morning) a confident ride as he posted a cosy six-and-a-half length success. Diamondgeezer Luke took them along as Lee settled his mount in third. He made a move to track the front-runner turning for home.

Colm Murphy 's charge cruised into the lead a furlong-and-a-half from home and only needed to be shaken up inside the final furlong to settle matters.

Noah Webster who had raced second for most of the way but was relegated to third turning-in, stayed on for the runner-up spot without looking a danger. Diamondgeezer Luke was third.

The winner had finished runner-up over course and distance last month when proving no match for the classy Pique Sous.

“He deserved that after the last day,” said Murphy.

“We'll probably put him away now for a bit of good ground. He can mix it between jumps and Flat during the summer.

“He's a horse that's had a few issues. He broke a bone in his back at Cork when he fell (last August).”

The horse is owned by the Winning Ways Enigma Syndicate and Murphy added:- “They've had a bit of luck before with Kimberlite King.”
