Weld's winner books American passage Days Without End won the concluding Tickets Online At www.gowranpark.ie Maiden at Gowran today with a slightly unusual profile, as the Dermot Weld trained Downpatrick bumper winner booked his ticket to America for the trainer's new owner Colvin Ryan. The son of Dubai Destination was a bumper winner first-time out for Weld at the northern venue on August 2017 and having been narrowly beaten in a Galway festival handicap on his latest start, battled gamely today under Declan McDonogh, when beating 50/1 outsider Eagle Crag by half a length. Afterwards Weld revealed “he's been very consistent and he'll be going to America later in the year, as his owner (Colvin Ryan) is American, and the plan is for him to run over jumps there. We'll look at giving him another run here first and I'll look at a handicap with him. “He deserved it as he's tough and consistent. He ran a good race in Galway when he was third and I thought he'd take a bit of beating here today. “He did it nicely and I'm delighted as it's my first winner for the owner.” Quotes from Gary Carson
