Watering has commenced this morning at Galway ahead of the start of the seven-day Festival meeting with ground conditions drying up and a favourable weather forecast over the next few days.
Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer is happy with the condition of the track but is conscious of trying to keep some moisture in the ground and as a result watering is taking place this morning.
“Weather wise it was a good day yesterday and as a result the ground has come back a little,” said Wyer.
“The National Hunt going is now good, good to yielding in places, and Flat is yielding.
“The forecast up to and including Thursday is generally mild and dry. There might be a little bit of occasional light drizzle but overall the numbers are very much on the low side.
“In an effort to try and keep moisture in the track, selective watering commenced this morning.
“Rail positions will be the normal Monday line and as we go through the week we step in.”
