WRAGG IS OFF THE MARK

Trainer Geoff Wragg belatedly broke the ice for the year when Cassandra Go powered home in the Listed EBF Lansdown Fillies' Stakes at Bath yesterday.

Michael Roberts always had the daughter of Indian Ridge up with the pace before seizing the initiative approaching the final furlong and lengthening nicely to account for Searaphina by a couple of lengths.

And though Roberts was unsure about any future plans for the filly, she seems sure to be aimed at some of the top sprints. The jockey said: 'She's always been a good filly but she just went off the boil a bit last season.

'She's won very nicely there over five furlongs so I would think that or six furlongs will be her trip this season as she seems to have plenty of pace.'

Richard Hannon's King O' The Mana swooped through to lead at the two furlong pole in the Tattenham Corner Classified Stakes before beating Riddlesdown by a length and a quarter and Richard Hughes.

Frankie Dettori was handed a two-day ban after his mount Bless The Bride took the concluding Levy Board Handicap.

The Italian was found guilty of careless riding by the stewards after he was adjudged to have caused interference to Kieren Fallon's partner Millions, who eventually finished fifth, in the closing stages of the race.

Dettori's ban takes effect on May 11th and 12th and means the jockey will have to sit out the last day of Chester's three-day meeting.
