WOODWARD BAN CONFIRMED

Garry Woodward`s application for a review of the case which saw the withdrawal of his trainer`s licence was thrown out at a meeting of the Jockey Club Review Committee at Portman Square today.

The committee backed up the original judgement issued earlier this month that Woodward was guilty of breaching the Rules of racing in that he had withheld monies owed to stable employees under the Stable Percentage Money scheme.

The punishment handed out to Woodward by the Disciplinary Committee, namely the withdrawal of his licence to train until January 2002, was confirmed.

Woodward moved to Osberton Hall stables near Worksop in September having left Burntwood Racing Stables near Barnsley after a split with backers Burntwood Sport Ltd.

His deposit of £750 was returned.

After the first hearing, he said of the offence: 'It was an unfortunate thing that happened when I wasn`t a self-employed trainer.'
