Sean Woods feels he has a live chance of saddling a surprise winner in the Vodafone Derby when Going Global lines up at Epsom next month.
The colt finished second to Saddler`s Quest in the Gartner Derby Trial at Lingfield on his last start but is as long as 40-1 with Ladbrokes for the turf`s blue riband prize.
Confirming Going Global to be on course for the race the Newmarket trainer told Sky Sports: 'His form stands up to any amount of scrutiny - it`s just a price.
'I was delighted with his run at Lingfield.
'He sat just behind the leaders and got a great run up the rails. He battled well and if anything, we could have done with Saddler`s Quest coming a bit nearer as we might have picked up - it was only in the last stride that we got caught.
'That was just his fifth run and he has progressed with every one - John Reid has been a big fan of the horse right from the start.
'I didn`t enter him in the race for a day out, I entered him to win.'
Woods also expressed doubts as to whether ante-post favourite King`s Best was likely to see out the mile-and-a-half Derby trip.
The trainer said: 'He`s a horse who I didn`t think would get the trip in the Guineas.
'Sir Michael Stoute and his team did a great job getting him ready that day but the Derby is very different to the Guineas.
'Kieren (Fallon) won`t be able to drop him out last and won`t be able to ride the same waiting race.
'If he did stay, God help us, because he has tremendous talent.
'But if I had to say, I don`t think he will stay.'
