VINNIE SUPPORTED FOR REPEAT LEGER WIN

Vinnie Roe has been cut to evens favourite by Cashmans for a repeat win in the Jefferson Smurfit Memorial Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Saturday, writes Alan Magee.

The Cork firm slashed the price of the Dermot Weld-trained colt from 7/4 after strong support this morning, and spokesman Joseph Burke said, `We laid a sterling bet of 7,000 to 4,000 plus a number of 500 euro bets at 7/4. The withdrawl of Arctic Owl (8/1) also caused Vinnie Roe to be shortened further.`

Burke also reported interest in Hatha Anna after he was pushed out to 12/1 from 8/1, and the Godolphin five-year-old is now back to 8/1. Millenary, 11/4 from 5/2, is the only other price change.
