Vicious Circle will not attempt to repeat his victory of 12 months ago in the Tote Ebor at York next week, it was announced today.
A spokeswoman for the six-year-old`s trainer Luca Cumani said: 'All I can say is that Vicious Circle will not run in the Ebor but Boreas will run.'
Vicious Circle had been quoted the 8-1 second favourite for next Wednesday`s feature with both William Hill and Ladbrokes behind stable companion Boreas the 5-1 market leader with both firms.
Vicious Circle, who made a belated reappearance at Goodwood earlier this month, is also entered in the Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Stakes on the Knavesmire the previous afternoon.
Boreas has been ante-post favourite for the #175,000 contest ever since the weights were published having made a successful return to action at York last month after missing all of last season with a serious leg injury.
