VENETIA COY OVER LADY PLANS

Lady Rebecca will head straight to the Cheltenham Festival, Venetia Williams said today.

The eight-year-old holds entries in both the Smurfit Champion Hurdle and the Bonusprint Stayers' Hurdle, for which she is 3-1 joint-favourite with Ladbrokes. But her trainer stressed that a plan has yet to be finalised.

Miss Williams had been considering another outing before the Festival for Lady Rebecca, who repeated her 1999 success in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham last month.

But she said this morning "She's fine and goes straight to Cheltenham. She's entered in the Champion and the Stayers' but I'm not saying anything on which race she'll run in at the moment."

Four years ago another tough mare Mysilv ran in both races, finishing sixth to Collier Bay in the Champion and then second to Cyborgo in the Stayers' two days later.

But Lady Rebecca is not expected to attempt the double.

"It is exceptionally unlikely that she'll be asked to do that," said Miss Williams.
