Primo Valentino will miss Thursday's Duke Of York Victor Chandler Stakes, trainer Peter Harris revealed today.
Harris believes the York contest comes too quickly following the colt's exertions when seventh behind King's Best in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 6th.
He said: 'We were thinking about it but I think we've decided not to go.
'I just did a little bit with him this morning and I think it's probably a little bit soon after the Guineas.
'He's come out of the race fine and I think we'll leave it a couple of weeks.'
Primo Valentino was a leading juvenile last season, winning the Mill Reef Stakes and the Middle Park Stakes, both over six furlongs.
Harris is planning to return the colt to sprint distances and he looks likely to run him next in the 29th Benazet-Rennen in Germany next month.
He said: 'I think we'll probably have to go to Germany with him because there's a Group Three there at Baden-Baden on June 2nd with no penalties.
'Then after that it will be the July Cup. I don't think there is anything for him between Baden-Baden and the July Cup, we looked all through Europe and we couldn't find anything.'
