Two In A Row brought in some hefty bets when hacking up in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe under seven-pound claimer Tony Kelly.
Unusually, claiming jockeys have won four of the five races at the western track so far this evening.
Patrick Kelly’s charge was backed early from 8/1 to 9/2. He opened at 7/2 at the track and was punted at all rates down to 2/1 favouritism.
The result was never in doubt once he powered his way to the front going round the home bend. Despite running wide there he popped the last and came in unchallenged by six and a half lengths from 6/1 shot Missgiloney Muzak who cut out most of the running, came in third at 11/2.
Two In A Row had run fourth at Killarney a week ago in a 15-runner handicap over the same distance and had kept on without getting on terms with the winner that day. He had also been backed then from 20/1 in the morning to an SP of 12/1.
The handicapper left him unchanged on 98 for this evening’s race.
Tony Kelly broke a losing streak of 31 rides with this winner while trainer Patrick Kelly’s cold snap ended at 36 losers.
