Truly Genius wins for Donoghue & James Truly Genius gained a deserved second career win when taking the Leopardstown Club Members Handicap at Leopardstown today for trainer Christy Donoghue and jockey Sam James. The son of Iffraaj made a winning start to his career back in August 2010 at Dundalk but failed in 23 subsequent starts, filling the runner-up spot on his last two starts. Today James sent him to the front inside the final furlong before staying on well to hold the late challenge of Cottesloe. Afterwards Donoghue stated “we may go to Galway now – he was second there before and he could have a run over hurdles before that.” Kevin Manning, rider of ninth placed Quill And Vellum, subsequently to the Stewards that his mount lost its action and as a consequence was eased in the closing stages.
