Trendelenburg rewards odds-on punters The Gordon Elliott trained Trendelenburg arrived late to reward heavy bets (5/4 in the morning into 4/6f) in the 16 runner Irish Racing Yearbook Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse today, providing jockey Paul Carberry with his 48th winner of the season. Toomdeely, who made the running, was well clear until well after three out but tired in the straight where Trendelenburg gradually closed, along with Catleen and Energiser. Trendelenburg eventually got his head in front close home to deny Catleen’s rider Paul Townend a treble. Afterwards Elliott stated “Trendelenburg is owned by a few members of my family, who are here, and its great to win for them! He’ll have a break now.” Tom Weekes
