Time called on Hidden Cyclone's illustrious career Veteran 13-year-old Hidden Cyclone has been retired after he came in third in the rated hurdle at Punchestown. He won 15 National Hunt races and another couple on the Flat in an illustrious career. Among his victories was the Grade Two Fortria Chase at Navan in November 2015. He came in third in the Champion Steeplechase at Punchestown that year. The following year he was second in the Galway Hurdle and third in the Grade One Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. Trainer Shark Hanlon said: “We said that we’d give him one more run and he’ll be retired now. It’s great that he’s retiring in one piece as he’s been a great horse for me and the Mees. “He’s won a lot of prize money and has run 48 times and been in the money on all bar eight of those races. "We’ve had some great days with him and he was second in a Galway Hurdle and second in a Ryanair Chase (at Cheltenham in 2014). “He still loves riding out in the mornings and will continue to do that. Hopefully one day we will get another one like him.” The son of Stowaway won over €500,000 prize money. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
