Star Traveller, favourite for the Martell Grand National on Saturday week with Coral and William Hill, will have his penultimate workout for the big race tomorrow morning.
But his stablemate Edmond, winner of the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow in December, continues to attract support for the Aintree spectacular.
Trainer Henry Daly said: "We just took Star Traveller out to do a couple of canters this morning and he seemed very well in himself.
"He will do a proper piece of work tomorrow and, as we always do, he will work with something else."
Coral reported "serious" support for Edmond on Thursday following the forecast of rain over the weekend and, despite the official going for the National firming up slightly to good, William Hill cut the gelding to 10-1 from 12-1 today.
Top weight Young Kenny, who would also appreciate soft going, has also been well backed and is now 10-1 from 12-1 with Hills and 14-1 from 16s with Ladbrokes, while Coral have clipped Star Traveller to 8-1 clear favourite from 9-1.
A decision on Edmond's participation is expected on Sunday or Monday.
Meanwhile trainer Alan King is still to find a big-race jockey for last year's National third Call It A Day.
The 10-year-old has yet to find his form this season and finished a distant fifth to Knight Templar at Doncaster last time.
King said: "I hope once we get the final entries we'll get something sorted but there's no need to panic yet.
"He's been disappointing this season but we'll just hope the occasion sparks him up.
"He was travelling very well there in the Becher Chase in November when he tipped up and seemed to be enjoying himself."
