Review TRAMORE 12TH AUG

Mullaghea Boy showed no ill effects from his easy opening day victory at the Tramore festival when securing a quick follow-up at the Co Waterford track on Friday night.

Gerry Keane's decision to turn his charge out again 24 hours after Thursday night's win paid off as the gelding gained a cosy three-quarters-of-a-length victory over Banraft in the Ernst & Young Handicap Chase.

Philip Carberry continued his successful partnership with the gelding and produced him to lead before the last. A big leap settled matters and he comfortably held a renewed challenge from Banraft.

The gelding was registering his third victory in a week, having opened his account over fences at Wexford last Friday.

'He was so well this morning he had to run again,' said Keane. ' He was a fair horse over hurdles but was off for a year-and-a-half with a leg. He got well handicapped on soft ground during the winter. We'll find something at Tralee for him.'

Tingshaw Ring had also attempted to follow up her victory on Thursday night in the opening AIB Handicap Hurdle.

She looked set to push Notlackinginstyle close before a last flight blunder ended her chances. Charles Coakley's gelding stayed on well to score by three lengths. He is now set to go chasing.

Fran Berry took his seasonal tally to 54, when partnering a double courtesy of Corsican Native and Sea Skate, moving him to the top of the Flat jockeys table.

Corsican Native ran out a convincing four-and-a-half-length winner of the Beat 102/103 FM Claiming Race after Berry sent the Tony Mullins-trained gelding into the lead turning for home.

It was a similar story on Sea Skate, who also hit the lead before the straight, and stayed on strongly to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap by a length-and-a-half from Lucky Slipper.

Berry looked set for a treble when The Screamer got to the front down the straight in the Grand Hotel Handicap but she was collared on the line by the fast-finishing Grimaldi.

Polly Anthus claimed an incident packed Richard Power Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle. 6/4f Blue Corrig ran out at the first under Ruby Walsh.

Rory Cleary was stood down for 21 days after his mount Shauna's Vision slipped up in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap. The apprentice suffered concussion.
