Henry Cecil's team for next week's York meeting will be seriously depleted with the news today that Vodafone Derby contenders Beat Hollow and Bien Entendu will both miss their intended engagements.
Beat Hollow, second-favourite for the blue riband on the strength of an impressive win at Newmarket last weekend, and Bien Entendu whose preparation had already been delayed by a tooth problem, were both ruled out after being scoped.
In a statement to PA Sport, Cecil said: "Beat Hollow and Bien Entendu on scoping were found to have mucus in their lungs.
"With treatment the problem will be cleared up in a few days, but unfortunately, neither will be able to run at York in the Glasgow or the Dante."
Ladbrokes later amended their Derby betting and have pushed out Beat Hollow to 7-1 from 5-1 and deleted Bien Entendu from their latest list.
