Richard Johnson completed his fastest century of winners at Taunton today.
The 23-year-old, runner-up to Tony McCoy in the jump jockeys` championship for the past three seasons, made it to three figures for 2000/2001 on Sleeting in the Orchard Portman Selling Handicap Hurdle.
Johnson gave Sleeting, trained by John Gallagher, a power-packed ride to short-head amateur Tom Scudamore on Catullus.
The 12-1 winner was lucky to avoid the attentions close home of a loose horse who ran the wrong way down the course as the first two fought out a driving finish.
It is the fifth season running Johnson has reached 100 and he is firmly on course to beat his personal best tally of 143 set last term.
He is hot on the heels of McCoy, who completed his century at Carlisle on Monday.
Johnson said: 'I`m delighted to get there. It`s obviously quite a landmark in my career as it`s the fastest ton I`ve ever ridden and I really hope I can ride another before the end of the season and beat that man McCoy.'
