Camden Tanner made a mockery of his lowly rating when sluicing up in the 2m handicap hurdle to complete a 40/1 double for rider Pat Verling at Tipperary's final meeting of the year yesterday.
The winner of three bumpers since attaining his hurdle mark of 75, Robert Tyner's charge was always pulling double in the straight, and was merely nudged out to score by three lengths.
'We've done plenty of schooling with him, and he's really got his jumping together,' said Tyner. 'He had been ballotted out a couple of times before today, and will hopefully run next at Cork on Sunday week.'
Verling had initiated his brace in the 2m maiden hurdle, where 14/1 shot Give Me Style took it up before the straight for a convincing 2 1/2 length verdict over the never-nearer Borora King.
On the level, Fran Berry also rode two winners during the afternoon. The rider took the opener aboard Nutley King for the in-form Jim Gorman stable, before galvanising his father's Claude Greengrass to a last-gasp triumph in Division Two of the Golden Handicap.
Bassett Tiger belied a lack of market confidence when rallying strongly from the last to make a successful debut over obstacles in the Dundrum Maiden Hurdle.
