Review TIPPERARY 22ND JUL

Feature event at Tipperary this evening was the six runner E30,000 www.tote.ie Galway Plate Trial Handicap Chase which went to Michael O'Brien's Commonchero, under a good ride from Andrew Lynch.

Commonchero raced in rear before moving through to lead from the eighth, eased clear two out, before eventually scoring an eight length win over Laragh House.

O'Brien was absent but his assistant and son-in-law Denis Cullen reported 'he disappointed at Killarney after getting a fright at the first fence. He thinks about things like that but Andrew gave him a grand ride.'

He added 'he stayed better than we anticipated, but is not entered in the Galway Plate and will go for some other race at Galway next. He is a decent horse with some good bits of form.'

Sean Aherne's Dantys Hampshire landed the Davin Arms Racing Club Beginners Chase, under Davy Russell.

The son of Phardante raced prominently throughout, got to the front at the second last before staying on well to hold the challenge of Ramblin Lady by a length and a half.

Aherne later reported 'he won a point to point before and needs good ground. He has had his problems and I've no immediate plans for here.'

Jockey Pat Shanahan missed the early part of the season with a foot problem but has made up for the absence in recent weeks, and partnered Savante to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, for Con Collins.

Collins was represented by his daughter Tracey, who reported 'Savante was entitled to win a maiden but is a tough ride and Pat was very strong on her.'

She added 'she should stay further, maybe with a cut in the ground.'

The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden went to David Wachman's Rabatash, under Mick Kinane.

The son of Johannesburg, previously far from disgraced at this venue and at Royal Ascot in June, made all for an impressive two and a half length win over Divert.

Kevin Prendergast's Spirit Of Pearl was a similarly easy winner of the Mocklershill Stables Hursery.

The five runners in the race raced virtually upsides until halfway, before Spirit Of Pearl moved through to lead two furlongs out, staying on strongly for an easy five and a half length success over El Cerro.

Aidan O'Brien's Lily Elsie landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap, under stable jockey Kieren Fallon.
