Andrew Thornton is set for a few days out of action due to an injury sustained at Wincanton on Thursday.
The jump jockey, who took the rest of the day off after he was brought down at the first flight on Lady Felix in a novice hurdle, has given up his rides at Newbury today.
He said: "I am a bit sore and I will give it a few days.
"There is a bit of bruising and I got kicked on the ankle so I will play it by ear."
Thornton was due to ride three horses at Newbury today, with Joe Tizzard already booked to take his place on Light The Fuse in the maiden hurdle.
