Coral Welsh National winner Edmond will be ridden by Andrew Thornton when he returns to action at Uttoxeter tomorrow.
Henry Daly's progressive eight-year-old is joined in the line-up for the Singer & Friedlander National Trial by stable-companion Step On Eyre, the mount of Steve Wynne.
Thornton won on Edmond at Chepstow in early December but Richard Johnson was on board last time.
Thornton is relishing the prospect of renewing his association with the gelding.
"It'll be nice - I'm looking forward to it," he said. "I rode him when the Captain (the late Tim Forster) had him.
"The horse looks as though he is still improving. He has been put up in the weights - deservedly so - but he is still on a handy weight (11st 1lb). The more rain the better for him."
The jockey believes Edmond's stablemate could pose a threat.
He said: "Don't discount Step On Eyre. He has slipped down the weights and he stays. He could be a big danger."
Edmond made virtually all in the Welsh National and Thornton intends sticking with a successful policy.
He added: "He likes to race prominently and there's no point changing a winning formula."
Young Kenny, well beaten behind Edmond at Chepstow when sent off a heavily-backed favourite, reopposes, with Russ Garritty replacing regular jockey Brendan Powell, who has been forced to miss the ride through injury.
Tullymurry Toff, from Malcolm Jefferson's Malton yard, bids to bounce back from a third-fence fall in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock Park while Paul Nicholls runs both Earthmover and Flaked Oats.
