The Outback Way will travel out this weekend for the inaugural running of the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan on April 15th.
The gelding, a winner three times at Cheltenham this season including the Murphy's Gold Cup, will be bidding for a share of 152 million yen (£836,000) in added prize money in the contest.
His trainer Venetia Williams said today: "He leaves on Sunday morning, arrives on Monday and then he'll be in quarantine for a week.
"Then he'll be transferred to Nakayama racecourse. I'll go out a few days before the race and Norman Williamson will ride him."
The 10-year-old, who finished fourth behind Edredon Bleu in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham last time, will have chance to gain some experience of the unusual course, which includes steep descents and climbs, before the race.
"The obstacles are very much like the continental fences," Miss Williams added. "But Norman will be able to school him over the course itself during the week before the race."
The Outback Way is set to be joined by the Charlie Mann-trained Celibate in the two-and-a-half mile race.
