Irish racing has escaped any effects of Storm Lorenzo as it gradually clears eastwards, but there is the prospect of a fairly significant amount of rain arriving in its aftermath on Saturday and again on Sunday night.

Gowran Park hosts a two day jumps fixture beginning today at 2.05 pm with the ground currently good to yielding, yielding in places and rain (approximately 3-5 mm) forecast for this morning, before the heavier rain comes through during Saturday.

Friday night racing at Dundalk, with an eight race card featuring the Listed Star Appeal Stakes, begins at 5.10 pm.

Tipperary have their mixed ‘Super Sunday’ card due to begin at 1.30 pm with an eight race programme, before their final meeting of the season, a National Hunt fixture, on Monday.

Conditions have actually improved there over the last couple of days with the ground currently described as soft for the three Flat races on Sunday, and good, good to yielding in places for the jumping action.

Obviously, given their weather forecast of showers today, rain on Saturday and again on Sunday night, it can be anticipated that the ground at ‘the Junction’ will soften up over the course of the weekend.
