Stick with Moore on final day at Royal Ascot While many punters will be drawn to Frankie Dettori’s mounts today as the Italian rider competes at Royal Ascot for the final time in his career, there is likely to be little value in backing his horses with the bookmakers keeping them short and it may pay to side with his weighroom rival Ryan Moore who looks to have a very strong book of rides throughout the day. Moore begins the afternoon on Pearls And Rubies in the opening Chesham Stakes for two-year-olds over 7 furlongs. This daughter of No Nay Never beat a well-fancied race-fit rival on debut over 5 furlongs at Navan and she promises to be much better suited by today’s distance having finished strongly on that occasion. BoyleSports are refunding all losing bets on the Chesham Stakes for Irish mobile and in-shop BoyleXtra Card holders up to a maximum of €10 per customer. Moore and Dettori are likely to go head-to-head in the second race, The Jersey Stakes over 7 furlongs. Dettori rides the rapidly improving favourite Covey, but this is a step up in class for the son of Frankel while Moore’s mount, The Antarctic, is already proven at this level, though he tries this distance for the first time in his career. If The Antarctic’s stamina lasts out he will be hard to keep out of the places and looks good value each-way with BoyleSports at 6/1. Ryan Moore rides Hong Kong raider Wellington in the Group One Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. This Australian-Bred sprinter has shown himself to be a top performer around Sha Tin and Moore has won on him before. This is a very competitive contest, but it will be no surprise to see Wellington, a four time Group One winner already, in the thick of it at the business end. The Group Two Hardwick Stakes at 4.20pm is a race Moore has an exceptional record in with six previous victories including last year aboard Broome. This time Moore teams up with another Ballydoyle representative, Changingoftheguard, who was successful at this meeting last year and looks to have a sound each-way chance following a nice comeback effort in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester. That was his first run since his Royal Ascot victory last season and the extended 1m5f trip proved too much having made most of the running. Back a couple of furlongs in distance here and with that run under his belt should see him in a better light. Ryan Moore again has an each-way chance in the Ultra-competitive Wokingham Handicap when he teams up with the ex-Dermot Weld trained Probe. The son of Kingman has won two of his four starts over this distance of six furlongs since joining Jennie Candlish. BoyleSports are paying 5 places on each-way bets in this race. Arguably Moore’s best ride of the day comes in the Golden Gates Handicap at 5.35pm when he again teams up with Ballydoyle to partner Canute. This colt was a ready winner of a handicap over this trip at Navan two weeks ago and may well be still ahead of the handicapper despite racing from 13lbs higher here. Ryan Moore ends the day with a rare ride for JP McManus in the marathon Queen Alexandra Stakes where he is aboard Dawn Rising. This dual-purpose gelded son of Galileo had a lovely prep for today when a staying on third in a Group race at Leopardstown last month and he may well be the one to spoil Stratum’s hattrick bid. Overall Ryan Moore has seven very good rides on the final day of Royal Ascot and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t visit the winners’ enclosure on at least a couple of occasions during the afternoon. Who knows? if Ryan gets on a roll he could go close to emulating Frankie’s Magnificent Seven from way back in 1996. Ryan Moore’s seven rides today: 2.30 Pearls And Rubies 3.05 The Antarctic 3.40 Wellington 4.20 Changingoftheguard 5.00 Probe 5.35 Canute 6.10 Dawn Rising
